Hey Guys !!

Check out Review of Punjabi Movie Yaaran Da Katchup
released this Friday by Pollywood ( Punjabi Cinema )
 Team

                                          CAN’T KATCHUP AT ALL !
Yuppie…this is the first word that comes to mind after you've understood the basic storyline of the Punjabi film Yaaran Da Katchup! Three friends gettogether after seven years in Pattaya and a series of events follow. Once you get to know the storyline there is nothing more you will ever come to know, such as why is the director showing the roundabout of Chandigarh when the boys are supposed to dance around in Pattaya? And why did they cast the heroines when all they had to do was nothing?

Well, Yaaran Da Katchup is neither sweet and nor spicy! It is just bad-flavoured. Directed by Abhey Baiju Chabbra, the film boasts of an ensemble star cast comprising Hardy Sandhu, Varun Sharma (Chucha from Fukrey), Anil Juneja, Jaswinder Bhalla, BN Sharma, Rana Ranbir, Vijay Tandon, Ranjan Sehgal, Anita Hassanandani, Yuvika Chaudhary, Manreet Kaur, Kruti Popat and Shagun Jaswal. Uff…yes, so many people and no performance, bahut na insaafi hai!

The story written by Rubina can only be understood but it has nothing extraordinary, not even ordinary. In fact, it is a poor steal from the Hollywood film Grown Ups and Hindi films Masti, Dil Chahta Hai…there is so much happening on the screen and none looks like making sense. It is like the director left everyone loose…do whatever you want to! According to the story, the friends apparently meet at Pataya. Those of us who have been there can vouch for many other good things around than the Thai massage. The director, however, is only interested in a beach, few streets and a hotel (which if you are from Chandigarh, you'd know is our very own North Park). After the direction, it is the failure of the disjointed screenplay that thickens the mess in the film.

Down to the star cast — the first name that comes to mind is Chucha from Fukrey film, Varun Sharma. What went wrong with the actor who left us in splits in Fukrey? Neither his comic timing nor his acting matches one per cent of what we saw of him. Next up is the singer making his debut with the film Hardy Sandhu. A good face, nice voice and he can fill one more slot by working on his acting as well. As a first-timer, Hardy has made the effort. Anil Juneja is the other actor making his debut in Yaaran Da Katchup. Okay boy, we know you have muscles and all that…does that mean even on the slightest provocation you will tear apart your shirt? Nonetheless, a good try by Anil. Rest Jaswinder Bhalla and BN Sharma — the only advice one would give to them is sit in solitude for a while and see how you can improve the sick PJ's! Rana Ranbir, a class actor, much appreciated in Punjab 1984, has tried to do something different but thanks to the director, he has also failed. As for all the ladies Anita Hassanandani, Yuvika Chaudhary, Manreet Kaur…you are always welcome as long you chose to sing, dance and not ask for more! If by any means, you begin to enjoy the movie during the initial 20-25 minutes, after a while, you'd want to either single out every strand of your hair or break some records on Candy Crush!

Check out Review of Punjabi Movie Mr and Mrs 420 released this Friday by Pollywood ( Punjabi Cinema ) Team

SPOT ON HUMOUR !!

You've read the warning and tucked that little piece of cloth in your pocket. We assure you, it would come handy. The movie has such a lavish, generous and healthy seasoning of laughter that you would need a handkerchief to wipe out those 'tears of joy'!

Directed by Ksshitij Chaudhary, Mr and Mrs 420 brings the much-done-to-death humour back. The film serves as the debut ground for two singers, Babbal Rai and Jassi Gill. It also stars Binnu Dhillon, Jaswinder Bhalla, Yuvraj Hans, Naresh Kathuria, Avantika Hundal, Swati Kapoor and Shruti Sodhi in the lead role. The story and screenplay of the film is written by Sameep Kang, the director who gave a Punjabi cult film Carry On Jatta. The dialogues dripping in humour come from Naresh kathuria.

As they say, if you have the beginning right then half the job is done. Mr and Mrs 420 nailed it at the starting point of the story, with its screenplay and dialogues. The film though comes with a story that we probably have seen in bits and pieces in Bollywood and Hollywood both, nevertheless by giving it a Punjabi spin, the writer has given a fresh feel to it. A story of four friends caught up in a situation where the two have to dress up as women to hide their identity is actually hilarious. The movie has some real rib- cracking dialogues that will evoke laughter naturally.

Ksshitij has done an okay job of giving a shape to the story and also to the diverse characters. Even when he loses the catch for a split second, like a good fielder and bowler he manages to get his foot back, almost immediately. The film has been shot in Punjab but what the director and art director could have done was, give a cleaner backdrop to the scenes. Visually the film might disappoint. A little cleaning up doesn't do any harm. We understand that the director was justifying the story, but the same could have been done by applying little paint on the walls of the house where the movie has been almost entirely shot! How about taking the actors out to more locations, and some beautiful ones as well.

Ksshitij cannot be solely credited for the film for it the humour element was only possible because of seasoned actors Binnu Dhillon and Jaswinder Bhalla doing their job perfectly well. It is however, Binnu and Jaswinder Bhalla who walk away with a fat share of appreciation. Binnu dressed up as a woman looks 'repulsively cute'. The actor is amazing with punches, timed well. Same goes for Jaswinder Bhalla, who has handled every punch thrown at him. In fact, it is the two characters in the film that evoke laughter, the scenes where you need the handkerchief. Yuvraj Hans, besides looking dashing in kurta pyjamas, has done justice to his character. The choo sweet character gets a thumbs up. Coming to the debutants Babbal Rai and Jassi Gill. Oscillating between being a woman and man, Babbal has done a fine job. He reminds you of Aamir Khan in Bollywood film Baazi. Babbal with some expressions sure can see a great career in films. Jassi Gill as a singer has a huge fan following, he has sung peppy and soul-stirring tracks in the film. In the film he acts very much how he moves and talks in real life, something the audience might or might not enjoy. For they accept an actor to act!

The three girls in the film have worn some wow designer suits, they did quite decent job in acting.Surprisingly, the dialogue writer of the film Naresh Karthuria has done a funny role, getting it right at all the points. Some scenes in the film have been dragged for no use, a snappier scissor would have done the trick.

However, Mr and Mrs 420 also comes with foot tapping, and romantic music. Lyrics by Kumaar have raised the bar of every song. Tere lai sung by Yuvraj Hans will stir something in your heart.

Movie Review- Bade Changay Ne Mere Yaar Kaminey !!

Film: Bade Changey Ney Mere Yaar Kaminey
Director: Munish Sharma
Cast: Karan Kundra, Inderjeet Nikku, Gaurav Kakkar, Sonia Mann, Isha Rikhi, Kajal Jain *

Review by Renowned Journalist Jasmine Singh
Source Tribune Life&Style

This is the opening Punjabi film of 2014, and what an opening! Some people never learn. No amount of learning from other people's experience or no amount of 'watch your step' advice comes to any help.

Bade Changey Ney Mere Yaar Kaminey, directed by Munish Sharma, still works on the 'let's laugh' formula, which is only making us cry. Boasting of a multi-star cast with Karan Kundra, Inderjeet Nikku, Gaurav Kakkar, Sonia Mann, Isha Rikki, Kajal Jain, the film offers a wholesome package of irritating to the core, out of place, out of shape punches.

Well, we make things easier for you. If you have seen the first part of Masti, the adult comedy movie, you can conveniently miss Bade Changey Ney Mere Yaar Kaminey for it is a bad rehashed version of it.

The director, story and screenplay writer found an easy way out. They must have had to shell out an odd Rs 100 for getting the DVD of Masti, must have watched it scene by scene, made their notes…. and there they were ready with BCNMYK. So, this goes without saying the director's job is reduced to half. However, the sad part is it is not even a decent copy.

Three friends, better still kaminey friends, after marriage decide to spice up their life, a little fun, a little adultery, some punches, some songs, some melodrama, some double-meaning jokes and end with that 'all is well that ends well' attitude.

The movie stars Karan Kundra, the good looking actor who has been hosting Channel V's Gumrah for a long time, and this guy definitely needs to work on the acting front. As for Inderjeet Nikku, the singer actor is just about tolerable. An actor should be like an actor; you can either be Nawazuddin Sidiqui or a Hrithik Roshan! Gaurav Kakkar is the other actor who is stuck in the Bollywood ishtyle. As for the three actress. .… Rabba tu hi bacha! You don't need stars to make a successful film, you need a good script, good dialogues, real comedy…. a miss in this film for sure. The director and actors make a desperate attempt to crack jokes, to look sad, to feel romantic, but it doesn't work. The film is not fast, it isn't slow, it just moves, and it doesn't matter even if it didn't.

The music is only good enough to tap your fingers.

RSVP- A Full Packed Entertainment Movie !!!
Review by Pollywood ( Punjabi Cinema )

Films like Mel Karade Rabba, Jihne Mera Dil Luteya, Jatt and Juliet 1 and 2 have three things in common. They were good romantic comedies, could be watched with families and they were all blockbusters. Now after a hiatus, this Friday sees the release of film RSVP - Ronde Saare Vyah Picho that can be watched with families and is a great romantic comedy. The third common element has to be fulfilled by YOU, the audience by watching the film in theatres and making it a success. Frankly, some pre-release reports suggested the film to be looser in terms of content but I am pleasantly surprised that the film is very well made, has a different though borrowed storyline, superior performances, soulful music and excellent technicalities.

Synopsis: Once upon a time in good old Sadda Punjab, lived a carefree and cheerful girl named Manpreet.
Like any lively Punjabi girl, her big fat wedding day had finally arrived with teeming pomp and fanfare. Jasraj Brar was his name. He was your characteristic, cock-and-bull story Punjab Da Prince Charming; Flamboyant, Hoodlum, Brawny and Affluent. Everything in life seemed completely different, exciting and worthwhile. Meanwhile, the effervescent Manpreet is not so sure about him. Unmistakably, he’s not ‘The One’. All hope seems lost. Until.. Manpreet’s only glimmer of hope rises in the avatar of a long-lost heart. A man who is helplessly and hopelessly in love with her.

Story/Screenplay/Dialogues: RSVP is a story of Manpreet aka Mannu, who is brought up by his maternal uncle Gurjit and aunt Rajjo. The family is completed by the only son Hira. They are basically a con family where Mannu leads the pack by making a love nest around guys who want to marry her. She marries them and then flees with all their material wealth. The film is said to be inspired from real incidents and has been very intelligently adapted by writers Ved Prakash and Vijay Kumar Arora. The film starts with a bang where there isn't a single dull moment until the post-interval portion. Infact, with the flackback and the back story running on screen, the audience was in splits of laughter. However, the story takes a downer soon after the interval where it tends to get a bit dramatic. This is where the film falters, it stretches and gets a bit boring at times. Writers could have added some more chemistry between the lead pair making it convincing that they indeed will fall in love with each other. Some of the content in the film is borrowed from Bollywood films like DDLJ (post-interval) and Ladies Vs. Ricky Bahl but that could be a co-incident. Dialogues are apt and as usual the best ones are minted by Jaswinder Bhalla. Overall, Good

Acting: RSVP belongs to Neeru Bajwa and this is her second film in a row where her name appears before the male lead. She is flawless in the role of Mannu, she looks stunning as well as seductive in the role of the bride and con artist. Harish Verma is somewhere downplayed in the film but he comes with a mature performance like always. However, with another film revolving around marriages (read Viyah 70KM), Harish Verma's act looked like a repetition and he should try to choose films wisely. Jaswinder Bhalla is top notch as usual, Navneet Nishaan is first rate. Pukhraj Bhalla, reel and real life son of Jaswinder Bhalla is decent, he did a better job in his debut film Stupid 7, however like his father, his comic timing is apt, all he needs to do is work on his emotional and dramatic scenes. Rajpal Yadav is efficient but under utilized, same goes for Rana Ranbir. Jaswant Dhaman as Daddi is perfect. Guggu Gill is repetitive but enjoyable. Overall, Excellent

Music: Like several other releases in the last few months, RSVP has multiple music composers but this time around they are able to deliver a chart-buster in Aibo. Infact calling "Aibo", the song of the year won't be an understatement. It is beautifully composed by Gurmeet Singh and makes you want to get off your seat and dance. Another song by the same composer "Tu Vi Ni" and sung by Navraj Hans is soulful. Channa Ve composed by Daljeet Singh and sung by Sandeep Bankeshwar is another melodious number. DJ Wale Veera, Kudi On Fire and RSVP Title Track are all right. Overall, Good!

Direction and Technical Aspects: One can ascertain the cinematic experience of the debut director Vijay Kumar Arora through the various merits of the film. Amritsar has never looked so beautiful on screen, kudos to the cinematographer Rakesh Rawat. Special mention of the art director Zulfiquar Qureshi and Choreography. Two young producers also deserve a mention - Aparna Sud, Brinder Sran for making such a wonderful film. The only jitters technically in the film were some minor continuity errors and not so crisp editing. Overall, Good!

RSVP - Ronde Saare Vyah Picho boosts of an entertainment value that we don't see nowadays in the countless Punjabi comedy films. RSVP has a story and substance, along with wonderful performances, soulful music and everything that any A grade Bollywood movie has. Watch it with your families and loved ones and celebrate Punjabi Cinema. Recommended!

Rating- 3.5/5

Review of Jatt Boys Putt Jattan De

Jatt Boys Putt Jattan De is a brave attempt that breaks the clutter of comedies in Punjabi Cinema. It doesn't degrade the Punjabi movies as a few intellectual Punjabi Cinema fans have been complaining, neither does it bring down the Punjabi film standards to that of late 80's and early 90's when Punjabi films were all about Jatts, revenge and senseless action.

In a time when Punjabi Cinema is facing some criticism for churning out only comedies, Jatt Boys Putt Jattan De offers something altered Singh Vs Kaur earlier this year proved that Punjabi audience was yet again ready for action oriented films and if Jatt Boys Putt Jattan De succeeds at the box office, we may expect more action films in Punjabi Cinema.

Synopsis: Sanwal Gill (Sippy) and Waris Brar (Aman) are group leaders at a college, who have a love hate relationship inherited from their fathers. They aim to get along for the sake of the other students but that resolve is severely tested when a beautiful girl named Seerat (Isha) walks into their lives. Sanwal is immediately smitten and pursues Seerat. Meanwhile, she only has eyes for Waris and resolves to win his heart. Rival college leader Jolly wreaks revenge on Sanwal and Waris by inflaming tensions between them.

Story/Screenplay/Dialogues:  Jatt Boys Putt Jattan De is full packed entertainment movie which is combination of Action,Comedy And Romance. Character actor turned writer Prince K J Singh  has great potential which can be seen is his dialogues.  Dialogues are really good and make you look upon them. Overall, the screenplay is superb..Great job

Acting: Sippy Gill's subtle yet macho portrayal of his character is sure to win him fans as well as haters. He looks bloody scary in his angry look expressions but also succeeds in connecting through his emotional scenes. Isha Rikhi is beautiful and does a wonderful job.Her Perfomance was excellent and is much appreciated both by critics and audience Watching Om Puri and Guggu Gill is such a treat for Punjabi film lovers and both of them don't disappoint in whatever is given to them. Aman Dhaliwal delivers a terrific performance; . Rahul Dev in a special appearance is competent and also looks dashing. Jaswinder Bhalla is repetitive yet lovable. Razia Sukhbir is good. Sardar Sohi, Daljit Kaur and Mandeep Kaur did their best. Karamjit Anmol is in terrific form. Mohammad Saddiq is okay, Prince K J Singh as the main antagonist is good ,he’s got a good amount of screen presence. Overall, Good performances!

Music: Jatt Boys Putt Jattan De has multiple composers Dr. Zeus, TRU-Skool, Laddi Gill, Justin Thind and Jawar Dildar who deliver a very good album. Some standout tracks are Bin College De, Title Track – Putt Jattan De, Kudam Kabila, Yarra Ve and Kabutri. . Overall, very good music!

Direction and Technical Aspects: First time director Simranjit Singh Hundal does a good job. Attempting a non-comedy in today's time deserves him and his producer a pat!Cinematography by Akashdeep Pandey is apt. Overall, Good!

Jatt Boys Putt Jattan De is a brave attempt that breaks the clutter of comedies in Punjabi Cinema but it lacks a solid foundation in form of a good screenplay. Watch it for its ensemble cast, terrific performances (mostly), excellent music, stylish dialogues and over the top action (if you are fan of it).

Rating - 3.5/5

Naughty Jatts A FULL PACKED ENTERTAINMENT MOVIE !!!

Naughty Jatts, the new Punjabi film released this friday came with a great promise that this one will be a completely different film from the league of comedy films coming and Director PANKAJ BATRA did a superb job and gave his best perfomance..

This Movie is another addition to the rom-com Punjabi movies with the heavy star cast infact the hit cast of the recent times. Arya Babbar earned lot of appreciation from his previous movie Jatts in Golmaal, Roshan Prince’s Fer Mamla Gadbad Gadbad did well on the box office, the Punjabi Juliet, Neeru Bajwa is still enjoying the success of Jatt & Juliet 2 and Binnu Dhillon is the rockstar of Punjabi movies these days. So each and every member of Naughty Jatt’s cast is promising to bring another hit movie on the screen.

Director Pankaj Batra is making his come back in Punjabi movies after Virsa, released in 2010. Naughty Jatts is completely different in genre as compare to Virsa.

The story begins with the one sided love story of two boys for a single girl. Rocky (Arya Babbar) is the neighbour of Simmy (Neeru Bajwa) and has been trying to impress Simmy for quite some time. On the other hand Laali (Binnu Dhillon) is a close friend of Simmy and he also wants to get married with her. But unaware of all the other things, Simmy wants to become a singer and also wants to marry a singer. Rocky’s cousin Balwinder (Roshan Prince) comes to the city for music classes and for a land case and he stays with Rocky at his flat. Rocky acquires his help to impress Simmy and Laali keeps on trying to push him back. All this develops an interesting plot.

Taking on from the plot to the screenplay, direction and individual performances by the principal cast, all these things are in favour of Naughty Jatts. It’s a fun ride all the way through and moves on a very good pace in the first half. A complimentary job by the whole star cast

Arya Babbar is now getting use to the Punjabi cinema and looks impressive as a part of the lead cast. He has been on top of his performance in Naughty Jatts. Roshan Prince is improving more and more with every movie. He has looked cute in a more of a silent role but yet very imposing too. As usual, Neeru Bajwa has been terrific with her acting as well as with her looks in the movie. Binnu Dhillon is the standout performer once again. He is just too good once again and this time in more of a lead role. BN Sharma is another actor who has a big role in uplifting the movie. Karamjit Anmol deserves a huge appreciation with his character in Naughty Jatts. Karamjit Anmol and Jassi Kaur towards the end provided good support.

The story may not have anything new to offer but the way it has been presented and at the pace it moves, is really marvellous. Screenplay and Dialogs are very enjoyable and delightful.

Music of Naughty Jatts is moderate and is a bit above average. Surkh Gulabi, Katrina and Dil Nai Lagna are the picks. Background music also very restrained and goes well with all the scenes.

Director Pankaj Batra earlier directed Arya Babbar and Gulshan Grover starrer Virsa in 2010 and he earned a decent amount of fame with that movie. He has been involved in some big bollywood movies as an assistant director in the past. His work in Naughty Jatts is simply remarkable. The way he has carried a light hearted story, is really appreciating.

Overall Naughty Jatts is humours, amusing and a twisted comic love story. Climax may not be as exciting as rest of the movie but still having the humour in loads. Watch it and it could prove to be a stress reliever for complete 2 hours.

FER MAMLA GADBAD GADBAD
After a long time, finally Roshan Prince gets a chance to play at his own in a movie. He has proved his capability as a singer but yet to make a mark as a lead actor in Punjabi movies. With Fer Mamla Gadbad Gadbad he has a big opportunity to establish his career as a lead actor.
Popular music video directors Rimpy and Prince have directed the movie. They have always set high standards with their music videos but there first directorial Punjabi movie ‘Mini Punjab’ could not do well enough on the box office. Lets see what they have done to make this movie better than the earlier one.
About Story –
Jassi (Roshan Prince) wants to become an actor and prove his capability to his parents and to get married to her girl friend Roop (Bhanushree Mehra). Jassi does some riggings to fulfil his routine expenses. By mistake he becomes the reason of Geet’s (Japji Khaira) break up and circumstances force him to get married with Geet. Jassi and Geet don’t love each other and want to get separated and Jassi wants to marry her earlier girl friend Roop. But circumstances change as the time goes on and who gets who, that is revealed at the end of the movie.
Whats Good –
Story concept of the movie is decent but it has been managed in an even better way. Direction and Scene sequencing are really nice. Story has got different flavours in it. There is a fair amount of comedy, sufficient romantic and emotional sequences.
Whats Not –
The movie losses its pace at few occasions, especially after interval. Screenplay doesn’t offer much to support the story and there aren’t many dialogs to remember to be honest. The second love story could have got some more reasons to happen.
About Characters –
Roshan Prince has been doing some multi starrer movies and in this movie he gets the opportunity to play the main lead. He has done a decent enough job to justify himself as the principal cast member. Japji Khaira is too good with her character in this movie. Although she has already done many movies as the main female lead but this has been one of the best performances by her. Bhanushree Mehra is making her way into Punjabi Cinema after doing some bollywood movies and quite a few Telugu movies. She has been impressive with her character and looks fit to have more Punjabi movies as a lead actress. Rana Ranbir always chips in with something new in his acting and he does well here again. Finally we get to see a famous Punjabi actor of his time, Satish Kaul. Even though he doesn’t have much to do in this movie but he has shown that he still has acting left in him. BN Sharma wins lots of attraction once again. He has been wonderful with his dialog delivery as well as his body language. Karamjeet Anmol and Rana Jang Bahadur have also done an admirable job.
About Story, Screenplay & Dialogs –
Story and the concept is decent to carry the movie but a better screenplay and dialogs could have made the movie far better than it is. They aren’t worst but could have been healthier.
About Music & Background Score –
Fer Mamla Gadbad Gadbad comprises different variety of songs. It includes the blend of songs such as beat song, romantic song, sad song and an item song too. Background score is a companion with the scenes through out the movie.
About Direction –
Rimpy-Prince are known for their creative work in music videos and they have shown their creativity in the direction of this movie too. They might not have done anything extravagant in this movie but made sure that they don’t leave any loophole also.
All in All (About Movie) –
All in all Fer Mamla Gadbad Gadbad is an amusing movie, offers an interesting plot, better screenplay and dialogs could have lifted it more. But it is still a good effort by all the cast and the crew.
